Jermaine Beckford has taken to Twitter after hearing that Mark Jackson – who left Leeds United in 2022 – had been nominated for an award.
What’s the story?
Well, Jackson worked as Head Coach of the Under-23 side at Elland Road before Jesse Marsch promoted him to the role of First Team Coach in March 2022.
The 45-year-old’s work at Leeds clearly impressed some sides lower down in the English footballing ladder, as MK Dons offered him the chance to be their manager in December 2022, which he accepted.
Jackson has guided MK Dons out of the relegation zone in League One since his arrival, and has now been nominated for March’s Manager of the Month award.
The Leeds-born tactician oversaw three wins and a draw for MK Dons from five games.
After hearing the news, Beckford simply reacted with an applause emoji on Twitter to show his admiration for the work Jackson is doing in Milton Keynes.
Mark Jackson thriving after Leeds United exit
Jackson has done a superb job so far in what is his first role in senior management.
The 45-year-old has won six of his first 18 games in charge of MK Dons, drawing four as he takes the League One side five points clear of the relegation zone, which is great work given the fact they were three points from safety when he arrived.

Of course, there is still a long way to go this season, but it is impressive to see him start off on a position note in his first senior management role.
Leeds clearly had a very talented coach on their books in Jackson.
If he can build on his solid start to life at MK Dons and rise up the English Football League, then who knows – we could maybe see Jackson return to Leeds one day as the main man.
