Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have recently snapped up Jermain Defoe on loan to bolster Steven Gerrard’s attacking options.

Glasgow Rangers striker Jermain Defoe has told the Daily Record that he has already been warned by the rest of the squad at Ibrox that he is going to get kicked in Scotland.

Defoe’s move to Rangers has raised eye-brows across the division, as he is expected to be one of the biggest threats in the division.

However, Defoe is not expecting an easy ride in Scotland, and the Rangers squad feel he could be targeted.

“I know I’m probably going to get kicked about,” Defoe said.

“The lads have told me that already but it’s challenge. I don’t think you can ever look at any league and think it’s going to be easy.”

Where Defoe fits into Rangers’ team is not currently clear, but Steven Gerrard could be planning to use a system which incorporates two strikers now.

The potential of a link-up between Defoe and Alfredo Morelos up-front is very exciting for Rangers supporters.

Rangers are right in the thick of the title fight, having beaten Celtic in their final game before the winter break.

The Light Blues are next in action in just over a week, when they take on Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup, and Defoe could be given the nod to make his debut by Gerrard.
