Jermain Defoe of Rangers is seen in action during the Scottish Cup 5th Round match between Kilmarnock and Rangers at Rugby Park on February 9, 2019 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Jermain Defoe has applauded Rangers fans on Instagram after scoring his fourth goal for the club during Sunday’s excellent 5-0 win over Hamilton at New Douglas Park.

Defoe, 36, scored his side’s second goal as he latched on to James Tavernier’s cross with an excellent diving header that left Hamilton stopper Gary Woods with no chance.

The 57-time England international has now had a hand in eight goals in his first eight appearances for the club, creating four goals in assists since joining Rangers on loan from AFC Bournemouth until the summer of 2020.

Defoe posted on Instagram on Monday the day after Rangers picked up all three points at Hamilton, singling out enormous praise for the Rangers faithful who travelled in their drones to watch on.

Rangers certainly dominated thew attendance, with more than half of the 5827 fans inside the ground from Rangers. Indeed, 3529 were from the Glasgow club.

Defoe started the match in place of the suspended Alfredo Morelos, who served the second of a two-match ban he picked up for his sending off against Aberdeen. The Colombian is likely to return on Wednesday night against Dundee.
