Eddie Howe reportedly tops Tottenham Hotspur’s shortlist of Mauricio Pochettino replacements.

Tottenham Hotspur have earmarked Eddie Howe as a potential candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino, if he joins Manchester United.
That is according to The Daily Mail, which claims that Tottenham will target the Bournemouth manager if they lose theirs to the Theatre of Dreams after Jose Mourinho was fired by the Red Devils on Monday morning.
It remains to be seen how Spurs fans would react to getting Howe as Pochettino’s replacement, but one man who may back the would-be move is Jermain Defoe.
The 36-year-old striker, who plays under Howe now, told The Daily Echo in 2017 that he has noticed some similarities between the two ‘top coaches’.
He said: “It is funny because when I speak to people and look at Pochettino and look at Eddie, they are so similar in the way they are.
“When I speak to the Tottenham boys and look at some of the methods like training being filmed so the manager can see everything, and the intensity with how hard they work, it is so similar here. They are two top coaches.”
It remains to be seen what happens with the Tottenham boss.
On Tuesday he refused to be drawn on whether he would like to take the reins at Old Trafford, while The Times has reported that he would indeed be keen.
It would be a massive, massive blow for Spurs, who haven’t even moved into their new stadium yet.
The move, which is expected to materialise in February, would certainly be somewhat tainted if Pochettino didn’t manage the first game at the new 62,000-seater arena.
