David Moyes is yet to win a Premier League match as Sunderland manager.

Jermain Defoe has told the Guardian that he hopes David Moyes is given time at Sunderland, despite their bad start to the season.
Sunderland have failed to win any of their first seven Premier League matches with Moyes at the helm, and they sit at the foot of the table as things stand.
The Black Cats appear to be bereft of confidence, and they have also looked vulnerable defensively over the new campaign.

Defoe admits that it has been tough adapting to Moyes’ managerial style, but he hopes that the former Manchester United boss is afforded time to solve the Wearsiders’ existing problems.
“It’s been difficult,” Defoe said. “But you can’t just come into a club and make it click overnight. There’s a new way of playing and it was always going to take time to build something. Hopefully the manager will get time.”

Sunderland only narrowly avoided relegation last season, and it seems as if they could be stuck in another battle against the drop this time around.
Moyes’ side are still within touching distance of safety as things stand, but they will need to start winning if they are to avoid being cut adrift.
Sunderland’s next match comes against a Stoke City side who are also struggling at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
