Sunderland lost striker Jermain Defoe to Bournemouth on Thursday.
Jermain Defoe has posted a message to Sunderland fans on Twitter after leaving the club on Thursday.
The 34-year-old left Sunderland on a free transfer and joined Bournemouth following the Black Cats’ relegation from the Premier League last season.
Defoe, who spent two and a half years at the Stadium of Light, netted 30 Premier League goals over the past two campaigns, and Sunderland fans wished him well on Twitter.

Sunderland really could have used with a marksman like Defoe in the Championship next term, but it is obvious that he is still more than good enough to score Premier League goals.
The former Spurs hitman, who managed 15 league goals last term as David Moyes’s side finished bottom of the league, will be a big asset for the Cherries next season as he looks to maintain his evergreen form in the top flight.
