Sunderland travel to Anfield to take on second-placed Liverpool on Saturday.
Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe celebrates scoring their first goal
Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe has told the club’s official website he is confident manager David Moyes has a plan for their upcoming trip to Liverpool.
The Black Cats travel to Anfield on Saturday afternoon looking to continue their current upturn in form.
They have won their last two games, first beating Bournemouth and then Hull City last weekend, to move within three points of safety.
They face a tough ask to do so on Merseyside with the Reds currently second in the table and just a point behind league leaders Chelsea.
Star man Defoe is confident they can come away with something, though, as he believes David Moyes’ experience will mean he has a plan.
“It will be difficult but we go into the game confident and in the Premier League anything can happen,” he told the club’s official website.
“You can’t have a thought in your mind about who you’re playing against because it doesn’t matter. We will go there and be disciplined and I’m sure the manager will have a good game plan because of his experience.”

If Sunderland are to come away from Anfield with a positive result, they should look to replicate the performance they put in there earlier this season.
The Black Cats found themselves 2-0 down in March but late goals from Adam Johnson in the 82nd minute and then Jermain Defoe in the 89th minute earned them a vital point.
They are in desperate need for those points this time around and Moyes would warmly welcome a similar display as in that 2-2 draw.
