Sunderland and Sheffield United reportedly want to sign Jermain Defoe of Bournemouth.

Defoe, who joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2017 after leaving Sunderland at the end of the 2016-17 season, is struggling for playing time at the Cherries at the moment.
According to WhoScored, the former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur striker has played just 22 minutes of Premier League football for Bournemouth so far this season.
According to The Sun, Sheffield United in the Championship are interested in signing the 36-year-old striker on loan from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald recently revealed on BBC Radio Newcastle that he tried to sign Defoe from the Cherries in the summer transfer window, and suggested that the League One club could make another approach in the January transfer window (click here to read more).
Defoe has suggested that he could leave Bournemouth in the January transfer window in order to get playing time, comments which will come as a boost to United and Sunderland.
Defoe told The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 22:27, Friday, December 7, 2018): “We’ll see what happens. At the end of the day I’m a footballer and I like playing football. I’m not playing football at the minute so we’ll see what happens.”
