The striker insists his focus on securing all three points for Sunderland however.
Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe
Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe has told the club’s official website that it will be nice to return to White Hart Lane but his focus is on getting all three points for the Black Cats.
The forward has had two separate spells at Spurs, first joining them in 2004 and then returning for a five-year spell in 2009.
He enjoyed happy times in London, winning the club’s player of the year award in his first year and currently sitting as their fifth highest goalscorer ever.

Returning to the club is always a nice experience for him then but he insists his focus is solely on getting all three points.
“It will be nice to go back but my mind will be on getting three points and leaving White Hart Lane happy,” he told the club’s official website.
“For us, it’s a massive game because we need to get our season going, we need the points and we need to get our first league win.

Sunderland certainly need a win from the game after the poor start to the season they have made.
They are currently 19th in the table at present with just one point from their first four games, which came from the draw with Southampton.
It is hard to see how they will do it against Mauricio Pochettino’s team, though, with them sixth in the table at present and keen to bounce back from the disappointing loss to Monaco in the Champions League.
