Leeds are reportedly interested in both Lens and Gomez.

Leeds United are reportedly interested in landing Jeremain Lens from Besiktas after watching the Holland international shine in the Europa League for his club last Thursday – but they have been linked with a much better option.
Lens, 31, would no doubt be a coup for a side playing in the second division of English football, with the ex-Sunderland star currently shining in European competition for the Turkish outfit.
Under the watchful eye of Leeds scouts, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Lens scored twice as Besiktas came from two goals down to beat Danish side Sarpsborg 3-2.
He boasts power, pace and an eye for goal that could give Leeds the added source of attacking firepower that is required to kick on and gain promotion – for the first time since the club’s relegation from the Premier League in 2004.
However, a high-calibre player such as Lens is likely to be earning big bucks at Besiktas, while his contract does not expire for another four years after he signed a permanent deal from Sunderland in the summer.
It should convince Leeds to move for a much more attainable option, and that comes in the form of Alaves attacker Ibai Gomez. The Spaniard is a much better alternative to Lens, and for these three reasons.

The 28-year-old is three years Lens’ junior, meaning he would not just be an impact player at Leeds over the next season or so. He could be the start of Leeds’ new Premier League side next season.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and that could either make him a bargain in January or on a free in the summer. But best of all, he has already worked with Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao.
For multiple reasons, then, Leeds should consider Gomez above Lens in the January window after Goal claimed the Whites were confident of signing the Spanish ace who has three La Liga goals this season.
