Jenas suggests Everton should have signed Fernando Llorente or Joshua King

Everton should have signed Tottenham Hotspur’s Fernando Llorente or Bournemouth’s Joshua King in the summer transfer window, suggests Jermaine Jenas.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas suggested on The Friday Football Social show on BBC Radio 5live on Friday evening (broadcast from 7pm, September 15, 2017) that Everton should have signed Fernando Llorente or Joshua King in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur recruited Spain international striker Llorente from Premier League rivals Swansea City in the summer transfer window.

As for King, the 25-year-old Norway international forward remains on the books of Premier League side Bournemouth.

Everton lost Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, but the Toffees signed Sandro Ramirez from Malaga.

Ramirez is very young and does not have any experience of the Premier League, and Ronald Koeman’s side cannot rely on him to score the goals that Lukaku did for them last season.

Former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest midfielder Jenas has suggested that Everton should have signed Llorente before he moved to Tottenham or King from Bournemouth.

“From my understanding, they put all their eggs in one basket, going after Olivier Giroud, whether that was ever an option, I am not so sure,” said Jenas on The Friday Football Social show on BBC Radio 5live on Friday evening (broadcast from 7pm, September 15, 2017).

“I am sure there were options out there, the amount of money they were spending as a club. People like, I am not saying it would have worked, but people like Josh King – he managed to return 15 goals last season. Fernando Llorente, he has gone on to sit on the bench at Spurs.”

Everton will take on Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
