Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur reportedly wanted Stoke City striker Saido Berahino when he was at West Bromwich Albion.

As reported by The Guardian, Tottenham wanted to sign Berahino from Premier League rivals West Brom in the summer of 2015.
Spurs reportedly had offers of £18 million and £22m for the striker turned down by the Baggies.

The former England Under-21 international striker joined Stoke from West Brom in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £12 million.
The 24-year-old has failed to do much of note at Stoke and is struggling to even get into the team.
Since the end of the 2014-15 season, Berahino has scored just four goals in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.
Former Tottenham and Newcastle United midfielder midfielder Jenas has suggested that Spurs chairman Levy and manager Pochettino must be relieved that they did not sign Berahino when he was at West Brom.

Jenas told BBC Radio 5 live: “Tottenham were hugely interested, and there was that opportunity for him to go and work with one of the best coaches in Europe at that particular time in Mauricio Pochettino. It didn’t work out.
“He obviously spent six months doing nothing on the bench at West Brom, turns up to Stoke, massively overweight and, let’s be honest, a Stoke side that have not exactly been flying in the last year.”
“You can almost guarantee that Daniel Levy and Mauricio are watching him now and thinking, ‘Thank God. We absolutely swerved one here’,” added Jenas.
