Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Southampton, that he thinks Hugo Lloris has been Spurs’ best player since Jose Mourinho arrived.
Towards the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s time in charge Lloris’ place in Tottenham’s team had actually been questioned, after a series of high profile errors.
But the Frenchman has been rock solid more recently, and he was in fine form against Southampton yesterday.
Lloris helped Tottenham to a 5-2 win, and his saves in the first-half turned out to be crucial.
A particular stop early on from Che Adams drew high praise from Jenas, who thinks that Lloris has improved so much since Mourinho came in.
“This is Hugo Lloris at his best. Since Mourinho’s arrival he has potentially been Spurs’s best player, he’s really elevated his game,” Jenas said.

Lloris has indeed been ultra reliable for Spurs of late, even with some defensive issues ahead of him.
Mourinho still doesn’t seem to have quite settled upon a defensive pairing of choice, but there is no question that Lloris is his preferred goalkeeping option.
Lloris has started every competitive match Tottenham have played this season, but it remains to be seen whether he will be picked to play against Leyton Orient on Tuesday.
