Jermaine Jenas has said on BBC Radio 5 Live that Liverpool trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are the biggest problems for manager Jurgen Klopp at the moment.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, believes that the Liverpool front three of Salah, Firmino and Mane are not at the level they were a few years ago.

Jenas said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “The front three for me are his biggest problem now.”

The Englishman added: “The front three is miles off from where it has been for a number of years.”

Does Jermaine Jenas have a point?

Much has been made about Liverpool having problems defensively, with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez out injured long term.

That has been the case for a while now, and Liverpool manager Klopp and the players would have – or at least should have – worked out a way to cope with that.

No one could have predicted the problems that the Reds are having in front of goal, and that has to be sorted now.

True, Liverpool scored twice against Sheffield United, but the defending English champions could not find the back of the net against Chelsea, Everton and Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, Salah should be cut some slack. True, the Egypt international forward is not having the best of seasons, but the former Chelsea attacker has still scored 17 goals and provided three assists in the Premier League so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
