Jermaine Jenas has said on Twitter that N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell and Reece James were the key players for Chelsea in their win against Manchester City.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder believes that midfielder Kante, Chilwell and James were the three Chelsea players who “just ripped the heart out of” City in the Champions League final.

Chelsea got the better of Premier League rivals City 1-0 in Portugal on Saturday evening.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute.

Chelsea were the better team, and as Jenas notes, City simply could not cope with Kante, Chilwell and James.

Former Leicester City midfielder Kante was arguably the best player on the pitch.

The Frenchman was always there to make important interceptions, stopped City’s attacks, closed down space, and was able to drive the team forward as well.

James kept Raheem Sterling quiet for most of the game and was brilliant defensively.

Chilwell on the left had a similarly good game. The England international dealt well with Riyad Mahrez, gave in some good balls, and was disciplined.

It was a deserved win for Chelsea, as Pep Guardiola’s City simply could not trouble them defensively enough.
