Will Tottenham Hotspur make a signing in the January transfer window?

Jermaine Jenas of Spurs looks on from the bench during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City at White Hart Lane on April 9, 2011 in London, England.

Jermaine Jenas suggested on BT Sport 1 on Saturday evening (7:41pm, January 13, 2018) that Tottenham Hotspur will not sign a new player in the January transfer window.

The former Tottenham and Newcastle United midfielder made the prediction following Spurs’ 4-0 defeat of Everton at the Wembley Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Speaking during the post-match coverage, Jenas said on BT Sport 1 on Saturday evening (7:41pm, January 13, 2018): “I personally don’t see Spurs signing anybody in this window. They don’t tend to go out in January and do anything too crazy.”

Jenas’s prediction could come true. After all, there is no immediate need for Tottenham to sign a new player in the January transfer window.

The North London club are strong in each and every area, and since many of the injured players are now getting back to full fitness, they will have a strong squad for the rest of the season.

Perhaps Tottenham could sign a striker, but would they get a better back-up to Harry Kane than Fernando Llorente?

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Son Heung-min could get a new contract at Tottenham.

The South Korea international, who can operate as a winger or as a forward, has been in great form for Tottenham so far this season and is scoring important goals at the moment.

Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £22 million.

Ferdinand said on BT Sport 1 on Saturday evening (January 13, 2018) during the post-match coverage of Tottenham against Everton: “I think his importance is highlighted even more when Harry Kane is out.

“Last season when Harry Kane was out for a sustainable amount of time, he came in and scored the goals.

“He is the guy they looked to. He is the guy they know they can rely upon and Pochettino sees that in him and I am sure he will be rewarded for that.”
