Jermaine Jenas suggested on the BT Sport Score show on BT Sport 1 on Sunday afternoon (3:10pm, May 12, 2019) that Jonjo Shelvey should leave Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Shelvey struggled for playing time for Newcastle this season and is not guaranteed a place in manager Rafael Benitez’s starting lineup.

According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old midfielder made 10 starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies this campaign, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.

Former Newcastle midfielder Jenas has suggested that it would be best for the Magpies and for Shelvey if the England international leaves St. James’ Park this summer.

Jenas, though, does not want Ayoze Perez to leave Newcastle, and believes that it will be a huge loss for the Magpies if the 25-year-old Spaniard parts company.

Perez – who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder – made 34 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies this season, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

The 25-year-old recently suggested to The Mirror that he could leave Newcastle this summer.

Jenas said about Shelvey on the BT Sport Score show on BT Sport 1 on Sunday (3:10pm, May 12, 2019): “He needs to probably move on and go and get himself play regular football. I think that’s the best for him and the club.”

Jenas said about Perez on the BT Sport Score show on BT Sport 1 on Sunday (3:13pm, May 12, 2019): “I hope not. It would be a huge loss, huge loss.”
