Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport, during their Europa League coverage, that he felt Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso put in a really strange performance yesterday.
Lo Celso was selected to start in Tottenham’s midfield as they picked up a 3-1 win over Ludogorets, and he managed to get on the scoresheet.
In general the Argentine showed flashes of quality, but there are signals that he is not quite at the top of his game yet.
Lo Celso missed some good opportunities to score before he eventually got his goal, and his final pass was often wayward.
And Jenas said: “He’s had a strange game, Lo Celso. He’s played really well, been really busy, he’s worked hard, but just that last bit is just not quite there.
“Maybe it’s a lack of fitness or sharpness. He’s definitely put in a good performance.
“He’s had the right idea, but the execution has just not been there.”

Jose Mourinho backed up Jenas’s claims after the game, as he also suggested that Lo Celso wasn’t quite at his best yet.
Lo Celso was one of Tottenham’s most influential players following Mourinho’s arrival last season, but a recent injury seems to have dented his form slightly.
Lo Celso now faces stronger competition for a spot in a Tottenham shirt, so his performances will have to improve if he is to break back into Spurs’s starting line-up.
Tanguy Ndombele has become an important part of Tottenham’s team recently, while Pierre Emile Hojbjerg is already a key player in central midfield following his summer arrival.
