Jeff Stelling told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports that Aston Villa could pay for rumoured targets, Tammy Abraham, Dwight McNeil and Matheus Pereira if they sold Jack Grealish this summer.
But ex-Birmingham City striker, Clinton Morrison, warned the Sky presenter that if Villa did make such moves then the above trio wouldn’t be able to have the desired impact Grealish has had on his boyhood club.
In truth, Villa don’t need to sell Grealish to buy those three players, they have the owners, who have the wealth, to purchase those players if they wanted and recent transfer business is proof of that.
But this is what Stelling had to say about Villa being linked with Pereira, Abraham and McNeil, with Morrison’s response.
“What about the argument, Villa fans won’t want to hear it, they have been linked this week with Tammy Abraham, Dwight McNeil and Matheus Pereira,” said Stelling.
“If you sell Jack Grealish then you could pay for all three of them then, couldn’t you? They are all good players.”
Morrison responded: “Yes, you could. But would they come in and have that effect that Grealish has had? I am not so sure about that.
“They are all good players. Tammy Abraham, Pereira at West Brom and Dwight McNeil, I like him, at Burnley. He is probably their best player and could deliver good crosses.
“If you are going to sell Grealish then they are three really good signings, but Grealish is Grealish and one of the most exciting players in the Premier League. He’s unbelievable.”

Dean Smith needs to bulk up his squad in the summer and adding the likes of Abraham to their ranks would take them to the next level.
TeamTalk have claimed that Villa are keen on signing the out-of-favour Chelsea striker, whilst the Athletic claim that the West Midlands side could pounce for potentially Championship-bound, Pereira.
Both would elevate Villa’s forward line and adding Grealish to the mix, as well as Ollie Watkins, the continuously improving Douglas Luiz as a six, the underrated John McGinn and Smith’s robust defence then they can secure European football.
