Stoke City striker Peter Crouch is reportedly closing in on a return to the Premier League with Burnley his destination.
Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick has heaped praise on Stoke City striker Peter Crouch ahead of his reported move to the Premier League club.
BBC Sport claim that the 38-year-old is set to be part of the deal that involves Burnley forward Sam Vokes heading into the other direction and moving to the Bet365 Stadium.
It is said Championship side Stoke, who are looking to earn promotion back to the promised land, will pay a fee for Vokes, with Crouch making a return to the top tier of English football following Stoke’s relegation six months ago.
Nonetheless, ahead of his potential move to Turf Moor, Republic of Ireland international Hendrick has sung the praises of the veteran striker, who will be adding Burnley to his long list of clubs he has represented during his career.
“I’m sure the lads would welcome him,” Hendrick told Sky Sports. “Yeh [I will get my crossing skills toned up], he’s a big lad, he’s a target to hit.
“You look down through the years, the goals he has scored with his head. Not only that. he has got a good first touch, he’s a clever player. If it happens, it’ll be great.”
During his career, Crouch has played for the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Tottenham as he now could be moving to Turf Moor.
As a result, he has made 461 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 106 goals and supplying 57 assists, according to transfermarkt.
During this campaign, he has only scored one goal in his 21 Championship matches, but he has been utilised from the bench on a number of occasions.
If he does make that switch then he will join a team that is currently sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table after initially struggling for form and consistency at the start of the campaign.
