The competition for a place in the starting XI is as fierce as ever at Molineux, with a whole of players attempting to stake their claim. The recent influx of new talent over the summer has made things even more challenging as manager Walter Zenga attempts to find his best first team available. As reported by Express & Star, midfielder Jed Wallace is one of the many players that is ready and prepared to fight for his place at Wolves.
Jed Wallace joined the Midlands side from Portsmouth back in 2015, and it’s fair to say it has not been the easiest transition for the 22-year-old. His last appearance in the first team came when he was substituted off in the loss to Barnsley, however he did clock up two assists in the 3-2 Checkatrade Trophy victory over Crewe.
“All you can do is do your best and try your hardest, which is what I do every time, in a five-a-side with my mates or a game at Molineux or training at Compton Park, you can only do your best,” he told the Express & Star.
New Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Walter Zenga
“For me personally there are a lot of players in my position. All I can do is train my hardest and wait for my opportunity, which hopefully I’ll get some time before Christmas.
“I played well (at Crewe) But, no disrespect, those aren’t the games I came here to do well in. I want to be playing in the first team, the same as Sav (George Saville), Silvio, Dicko, Lonners (Andy Lonergan) and all the rest of the boys, they want to be in the first team.”
With so much potential in this squad it is easy for some players to be forgotten amidst the sea of talent, however it it evident that Wallace is determined to ensure manager Walter Zenga knows just how good he can be.
