Liverpool tried to sign the Lyon ace earlier this summer.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas sat down for an exclusive interview with French media outlet RT France, and admitted that Nabil Fekir will be allowed to leave the Ligue 1 side, if the Frenchman wishes to do so, opening the door for Liverpool to renew their interest in the attacking midfielder.
The 24-year-old’s proposed £53m move to Anfield dramatically collapsed at the 11th hour two weeks ago, and Reds fans believed that was the end of their club’s chances of signing the France international.
Fekir was in quite simply sensational form for Lyon last season, chalking up 23 goals and eight assists in 40 appearances in all competitions – with all of those outings coming from the number 10 position.

The attacking midfielder would be an exceptional signing for Liverpool, and their hopes of bringing him to Anfield appear to have been boosted following Jean-Michel Aulas’s recent comments.
The Lyon president told RT France how he would be willing to sanction Fekir’s exit:
“He was supposed to go to Liverpool at a certain point, I gave a green light, [but] things did not happen because they lasted too long. Nabil is an exceptional player, he is on the map. the efficiency, to keep the ball, absolutely unique. The failure with Liverpool has aroused the interest of other clubs. Everything is possible. My goal is to make him stay. I have always listened as a priority, the players are my sons. I hope he will stay, but if he absolutely wants to leave, we will try to find him the biggest club.”
The only bad news for the Reds is that there now seems to be more clubs interested in signing the Lyon ace, so they certainly won’t have things all their own way if they go back in for him before the start of the new season.
