The Tottenham Hotspur striker has won the award twice in a row.
Even in difficult circumstances, Harry Kane has continued to score for Tottenham Hotspur, with the striker finding the net in the draw against West Bromwich Albion and the loss to Leicester City.
It has become apparent, however, that Kane must continue to be extremely prolific if he is to win the Premier League golden boot for the third consecutive season, with a host of contenders determined to beat him and claim the accolade.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who hit a brace in his side’s 3-0 victory over Stoke City last night, currently leads the way with 12 goals, two clear of Kane.
League leaders Manchester City, unsurprisingly, have several players who have found the net with regularity this season.
Sergio Aguero, for instance, is on nine goals, as is Raheem Sterling, who is developing a penchant for scoring at crucial times.
Another City star, Gabriel Jesus, has eight goals, where he is joined by Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.
With so many different players in contention for the prize, Kane could well face his toughest challenge yet to finish as the division’s top scorer.
Kane is capable of scoring spectacular goals and finding the net from various angles but it will be intriguing to see whether he can come out on top in this battle.
Of greater importance to Kane will be helping Tottenham to improve their form and play with greater consistency but he will also be determined to fend off the fierce competition and win the golden boot yet again.
