The talented young goalkeeper has been a regular for West Ham at U23 level this season.
West Ham United manager David Moyes may well be contemplating making changes to his side for Sunday’s game away to Manchester City following the thrashing suffered against Everton, but one alteration will be forced upon him.
Goalkeeper Joe Hart, who has hitherto started all of West Ham’s Premier League games this season, is ineligible to face his parent club, meaning Adrian will play against City.
As West Ham don’t have a senior third choice goalkeeper, Nathan Trott, the club’s regular shot-stopper at U23 level, will be named amongst the substitutes at the Etihad Stadium.
Although he is eligible to represent Bermuda, Trott is an England U20 international and was part of the Three Lions’ U19 squad which won the European Championship for that age group earlier this year, although he didn’t play a game in the competition.
The youngster hasn’t been in the best of form recently – he conceded five goals against Derby County and three against Arsenal.
However, earlier in the campaign he provided an indication of the quality that he possesses and kept clean sheets against Everton and Chelsea.
Trott has been training with the West Ham first-team squad of late and is highly regarded within the club, while the experience of being part of the squad against City will provide him with an extra incentive to succeed in the longterm as he can sample the routine which senior players go through prior to matches.
There is a possibility that Trott could go on loan at some stage, possibly next season, in order to further his development but for now he is looking to progress at West Ham and will relish being involved with the first-team.
