The young striker is learning a lot at Liverpool following his arrival in the summer.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce suggested this week that Liverpool starlet Dominic Solanke would be better off going out on loan than being a fringe player for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Bruce suggested that it was rather absurd that Solanke made his debut for the England senior side against Brazil recently despite not being a regular starter in the Premier League.
However, Solanke is clearly benefiting immensely from working under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and last night was given an opportunity from the outset in the 3-0 victory away to Stoke City – which he seized by providing an assist for Sadio Mane’s opener.
While it is true that Solanke has some way to go to establish himself as a regular for Liverpool, the 20-year-old has been in the matchday squad for all but one of the club’s Premier League fixtures so far this season.
Solanke has made eleven appearances for Liverpool across all competitions since his arrival from Chelsea, which isn’t a bad return for a player who was initially signed with the intention of playing for the Reds’ U23 side.
Perhaps next season, if he is still finding regular playing time difficult to come by, Solanke should go on loan and enjoy playing regularly elsewhere. For now, however, he is surely learning a lot from Klopp and will undoubtedly become a better all-round player for the experience that he is gaining in the Liverpool squad – not just in matches but from following the German’s instructions on the training pitch.
