Celtic are set to play Motherwell for the third time in six days.
Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has claimed that the club’s congested fixture list isn’t helping their cause.
Tomorrow afternoon Celtic will play Motherwell for the third time in just six days, with the sides playing their second league fixture having also met in the Scottish League Cup final.
Although the first league meeting between the sides was rearranged due to the two teams’ cup commitments, Brown believes that the fixtures have been badly organised.
As reported by The Herald, Brown said: “I don’t think it helps. There is always going to be something going from one game to the other, whether that is a player rivalry or fans or whether it is the whole team.
“After winning a cup, you play the same team two and a half days later. It shouldn’t really happen.
Celtic won the first meeting against Motherwell as they prevailed with a 2-0 victory to win the League Cup.
However, the sides drew 1-1 in the league on Wednesday night, with Scott Sinclair scoring an 88th minute penalty to extend Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run to 66 games.
Now very familiar opponents, the two teams will do battle again tomorrow at Celtic Park, with Brendan Rodgers’ side looking to return to winning ways and extend their unbeaten run further still.
Celtic remain top of the Scottish Premiership and are four points clear of their closest challengers Aberdeen with a game in hand.
Motherwell, meanwhile, are in fifth place and will hope to put the knowledge they have gained from the past two encounters against Celtic to good use tomorrow.
