The Belgian midfielder has found it difficult to get back into the Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up, but could be a key player in this weekend’s London derby against Arsenal.
Mousa Dembele is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the Tottenham Hotspur squad, but the midfielder has endured a frustrating start to the campaign.
After missing several games through injury, Dembele has found it difficult to regain his place in the Tottenham starting line-up, with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko having both produced some encouraging performances of late.
For Saturday’s eagerly-anticipated North London derby away to Arsenal, however, it seems clear that Dembele’s return to the side would help to provide Tottenham with an extra edge that could ultimately swing the game in their favour.
Dembele is superb at retaining possession, but also relishes bursting forwards and initiating attacks, making use of his fine dribbling and excellent technique.
In addition, the Belgian certainly has the composure that is required to thrive in the heat of the battle and is capable of helping Tottenham in a defensive sense as well as going forwards.
If Winks is passed fit then Spurs manager Pochettino may have to tweak his formation slightly to find a system that could get the best out of both the England youngster and Dembele, but there’s little doubt that the latter is capable of making a significant contribution against Arsenal if called upon.
Arsenal have home advantage on Saturday, and are currently enjoying a good run of form. The recent 3-1 loss at Manchester City is Arsenal’s only loss in 12 fixtures in all competitions.
