Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi has impressed for West Brom in difficult circumstances.
It has been a challenging time for West Bromwich Albion of late, with the club having lost their last three Premier League games, but commanding centre-back Ahmed Hegazi has still managed to emerge with his reputation enhanced.
The Egyptian international, who is on a season-long loan from Al-Ahly, has quickly endeared himself to the West Brom supporters with his commanding displays at the back.
Capable of making precisely-timed challenges with regularity, Hegazi isn’t afraid to clear the ball long when necessary but he is also adept at playing neat passes out from defence if required.
Strong physically and boasting a considerable amount of experience – he has been capped by Egypt on 41 occasions – the performances that Hegazi has produced have been one of the few positives for West Brom fans to take from the season so far.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis finds himself under pressure amidst fears that the club are going to become embroiled in a battle to avoid relegation.
Next up for West Brom are games at home to Chelsea and away to Tottenham Hotspur, fixtures which could well spell the end of Pulis’ tenure at The Hawthorns.
One thing that Pulis has certainly got right this season, however, has been the decision to bring in Hegazi, and West Brom fans will hope that the defender will remain at the club beyond his loan deal.
