Tottenham have struggled in Premier League away matches against top clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has insisted that his team must start beating big sides away if they are to seriously challenge for the Premier League title.
Kane’s side are currently in third place in the table, eight points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
Tottenham travel to face rivals Arsenal Saturday and will be looking to fare better than they did in their last big away game in the Premier League – when they lost 1-0 to Manchester United.
As reported by Reuters, Kane said: “It’s important for us to start beating the big teams away. Not just Arsenal, but all of the top six.
“We’ve done very well at home against them in recent years, but if we want to be challenging for the title, these are the games we need to win away from home.
Tottenham have won just one out of 16 away games against the other members of the big six – City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool – since Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as manager in 2014.
The last three meetings between Tottenham and Arsenal at Emirates Stadium have finished 1-1, but Pochettino’s side will be especially eager to prevail Saturday, and they have been given a major boost with Kane set to be fit to start after recovering from injury.
Kane is the joint-leading scorer in the Premier League so far this season – level with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero on eight goals.
The England international has a superb record against Arsenal having scored six goals in six appearances against them and will be eager to add to his Tottenham tally.
