The West Bromwich Albion striker has been far from prolific this season.
After being appointed as the new manager of West Bromwich Albion, one of Alan Pardew’s first tasks will be to try and get the best out of Jay Rodriguez.
The forward has scored just three times in 15 appearances for West Brom since joining from Southampton in the summer, and is certainly need of a boost as he looks to perform with greater consistency.
Scoring goals has been a major problem for West Brom as a collective this season, with their struggles in that regard summed up by the fact that Rodriguez is their joint-highest scorer in the Premier League with just two goals, a feat matched by Hal Robson-Kanu and Salomon Rondon.
Pardew will have to quickly assess how to get the best out of West Brom’s attacking options that he has at his disposal, but it’s likely that he will be willing to give Rodriguez, who works very hard off the ball and possesses impressive technique, regular opportunities to impress.
Rodriguez is still trying to recapture the form that he produced in the 2013/14 season, when he scored with regularity for Southampton and also earned a call-up to the England senior squad, making his debut against Chile.
Two serious injuries subsequently hampered his progress, but Rodriguez is now trying to get his career back on track and Pardew can certainly help him achieve that objective.
