Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to finally return to the Premier League.

Former Sheffield Wednesday forward Benito Carbone has claimed that manager Carlos Carvalhal must guide the club to promotion from the Championship this season.
Carvalhal has been heavily backed in the transfer market by chairman Dejphon Chansiri, and Carbone feels that it is vital that Wednesday go up.
As reported by Bwin, Carbone said: “Absolutely! If your boss decides to win a championship, that must be your only target. No matter how you achieve it, you can win the season but you can also finish in second place and (also) win the play-offs (to get promoted).”

Carvalhal has guided Sheffield Wednesday to two successive play-off spot finishes, but promotion has eluded the club on both occasions.
Wednesday are currently in 12th place in the Championship but, with a hectic schedule coming up, have an opportunity to edge closer to the play-off positions, starting with tomorrow’s game away to Norwich City.

Having drawn their last four league matches in succession, Sheffield Wednesday will be eager to return to winning ways and must now start to perform with greater consistency.
So far this season Wednesday have been heavily reliant on the exploits of Gary Hooper, who has scored ten goals in 20 Championship appearances, with the forward set to play a major part in the club’s push for promotion.
