Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa had been tipped to be reunited with Leonid Slutsky at Hull City.
Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa has insisted that he won’t drop down to the Championship to join Hull City, despite his close relationship with Tigers manager Leonid Slutsky.
Musa benefited from Slutsky’s guidance at CSKA Moscow and speculation has been rife that the pair could be reunited at Hull. However, Musa has made it clear that he doesn’t want to play in the second tier of English football.
”Slutsky for me is a father. And we are always in touch, we communicate warmly. This coach has always helped me to feel confident, to believe in my strength,” Musa told sport-express.ru.
”And he really calls me to Hull City. I just can not physically tell him No. Perhaps in the near future again I will play for his team.
”The problem is Hull is in the Championship. It is for this reason that it’s hard for me to decide.”
Musa joined Leicester from CSKA Moscow in 2016, but endured a frustrating first season at the club as he mustered just four goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.
This season has been even more difficult for the Nigerian as he has not featured at all for Leicester in the Premier League, while he has made just one senior appearance, which came in the League Cup against Sheffield United in August.
It seems clear that the 25-year-old has no long-term future at Leicester, and Aston Villa have also been linked with him. Suggestions of a move to Hull City, however, can now be dismissed.
Leicester return to action on Saturday when they host league leaders Manchester City but, once again, Musa isn’t expected to be involved.
