The Detroit Pistons were on the verge of creating franchise history, but the Boston Celtics stopped them in their tracks.
Heading into their recent NBA Cup matchup against the Boston Celtics, the Detroit Pistons had an NBA-best 13-game winning streak.
Playing against the shorthanded Celtics, many expected the Pistons to register an easy win and reach a franchise-best 14 consecutive wins.
However, the C’s snapped the Pistons’ dreams with a 117-114 win over the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
Jaylen Brown makes fun of Cade Cunningham’s clutch miss
Considering it was a tight three-point win, every shot mattered during the final quarter of the game. With the Pistons down three points, the most important foul was called in favor of Cade Cunningham.
Cade managed to hit two free throws, but missed the third attempt as the Celtics maintained their lead and ultimately registered a win over the Pistons.
After the game, an irate Jaylen Brown didn’t mince his words when he took a shot at the officials and Cunningham.
“Ball don’t lie. Ball don’t f______ lie,” Brown said after winning the game.
It was clear that Brown was furious about Cunningham getting sent to the free-throw line for what can only be described as a half-attempt by the Pistons star.

If Brown showed his emotions after the win, Cunningham had a complete opposite reaction to the miss as he addressed it during the postgame interview.
“We can’t go back. I can’t shoot the free throw again. We can’t get up on the threes again, the game is over with. It’s about how we’re going to respond,” Cunningham said.
He added: “It’s a lot of season left to go accomplish a lot of great things, and that’s where our mind is at.”
Winning 14 straight games would have been a phenomenal accomplishment, but as Cunningham pointed out, there’s no point in regretting the missed milestone.
The Pistons remain the No. 1 seed in the East, and in the grand scheme of things, the loss may be overshadowed.
