Jay-Z has shut down claims that Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl selection was linked to his feud with Drake, making it clear the decision was based purely on merit.

The debate emerged as fans tried to connect the halftime show choice to the ongoing rivalry between the two artists.

Jay-Z’s response, however, leaves little room for that interpretation.

Jay-Z denies Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl pick linked to Drake feud

Jay-Z addressed the claim while explaining why Kendrick Lamar was chosen for the Super Bowl stage.

“I chose the guy that was having a monster year. I think it was the right choice. It wasn’t in some sort of alliance to a battle.

“What I care about them two guys battling? What’s that got to do with me? Have at it. Have fun,” Jay-Z said.

The explanation frames the decision as performance-based, removing any suggestion of outside influence from ongoing rivalries.

It also reinforces how selections at that level are tied to impact and relevance rather than narrative.

Jay-Z shuts down Drake conspiracy theory around Super Bowl decision

Jay-Z went further by directly dismissing the idea that there was any coordinated effort involving Drake.

“They drag everybody in it, like everyone’s part of this conspiracy to undermine Drake, I guess. But, it’s like, what the f___? Like what?

” I’m f______ Jay-Z! All due respect to them. I’m f______ Hov. Respectfully, for what? To what end?” Jay-Z concluded.

The response highlights his frustration with how the situation has been framed publicly. It also makes clear that he sees the narrative as exaggerated and disconnected from reality.

In the end, his stance brings the focus back to music and performance rather than speculation.
