Former Reds midfielder Jay Spearing can recall one of their great memories, a 4-0 victory over Real Madrid under Rafa Benitez in 2009.

He joked after the three nil victory that this Liverpool side were not as good, as they failed to net a fourth goal.

The response to Spearing’s tweet was priceless.

A supporter questioned if Spearing had ever played in such a big tie for Liverpool – only for another fan to quickly point out he had just posted a photo of himself starring in the 4-0 Real victory.

Spearing, 29, is currently starring for Blackpool, with his career peaking during his breakout years for Liverpool.
