New Leeds United signing Jay-Roy Grot has told LUTV that fans of the Elland Road club can expect a strong, quick player who can find the net.

Leeds wrapped up a £1.5 million deal for the 19-year-old, who signed from NEC Nijmegen.

The Dutchman arrives in the same week which saw Chris Wood command a £15 million transfer fee as he completed his move to Burnley in the Premier League.

Although Grot is not expected to fill the goalscoring void left by Wood, who scored 30 times last season, the Whites still could have a very promising striker on their hands.

He told LUTV, when asked what Leeds fans can expect: “I will do my best and try to score as many as possible. I am strong, fast and can shoot.”

Grot has managed five goals from 31 games for the Dutch outfit and the youngster has joined a club in form.

United, under Thomas Christiansen, have won four of their six games in all competitions this season, drawing the other two.

And Neil Redfearn claimed on Wednesday that Leeds’ form should help Grot adapt that bit quicker.

Christiansen’s side visit Nottingham Forest on Saturday and it’ll be interesting to see whether the new man is involved. Logically, you would think it’s too early, but it’s open season up front following Wood’s exit.

Kemar Roofe, who scored three in the 5-1 win over Newport County in midweek, might well spearhead the attack but with doubts over Caleb Ekuban’s fitness, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Grot on the bench.
