Jay Roy Grot is surely facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines now, with Kemar Roofe and Caleb Ekuban both impressing during Leeds United’s last match against Middlesbrough.
Roofe was selected to start up-front against Boro, and the lively forward caused a great deal of problems with his intelligent movement.
Roofe helped Leeds take a 2-0 lead in the contest, before he was replaced by Ekuban – who also proved a threat.
Ekuban was tireless when he came on to the field, and continued to press Boro’s defence relentlessly.
He also showed a good turn of pace, and there is a feeling that the 23-year-old could have a key role to play in the coming weeks, as he gains even more match sharpness following his return from injury.
Leeds’ striking options now look a lot healthier, with Pierre Michel Lasogga also due to return from illness in the near future.
And Grot may now be watching on wondering exactly where he fits in at Elland Road.
Grot was brought to Leeds in the summer transfer window, but he has failed to impress so far.
The 19-year-old is yet to find the back of the net, and he may now have to watch from the sidelines for a considerable amount of time, as there appears to be no way into the Leeds’ team for him.
