Gillingham have sent Jay Emmanuel-Thomas back to QPR.
Jay Emmanuel Thomas has underwhelmed since joining QPR
There’s an extra striker at Loftus Road today, but goal-shy Queens Park Rangers won’t be able to benefit from his presence.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas had been on a season-long loan at Gillingham but the League One strugglers have decided he’s no longer wanted, sending him back to his parent club.
However, as the loan was for the entire season, Emmanuel-Thomas is still registered as a Gills player and therefore ineligible to play for anyone else until next season.
Having scored ten goals in all competitions this campaign, Emmanuel-Thomas is Gillingham’s top scorer and has more goals than any QPR player.
But he hasn’t found the net since November and has been out of favour under new Gillingham manager Ady Peacock.
Emmanuel-Thomas had got off to a blistering start for Gillingham, but the goals have since dried up
QPR have struggled for goals this season, scoring 36 which is more than only six other teams in the Championship, so could do with another attacking option.
They signed Emmanuel-Thomas on a free transfer in the summer of 2015, offering him a three-year deal, but the Arsenal youth product has made only 12 league appearances since and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be in Ian Holloway’s plans moving forward.
