West Ham United have been linked with West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans.

If West Ham United sign Jonny Evans this month, then the transfer will surely get Javier Hernandez’s seal of approval.

West Ham have been linked with being interest in a move for West Bromwich Albion defender Evans in the Daily Mirror.

And Evans is a player who Hernandez knows well, after teaming up with the Northern Irish international at Manchester United.

West Ham are due to face the Baggies tonight, and Hernandez had only positive words to say about Evans.

“We spent four years together in Manchester United and Jonny is a great player and a great lad,” Hernandez said. “That’s why he spent most of his career in Manchester United.

“Together we won two Premier League titles and almost won the Champions League in my first season there in 2010/11, when we lost to Barcelona at Wembley.

“Jonny is a great player and he is trying to do his best with West Brom, who are in a similar position to us in that they are trying to fight relegation. I think he’s going to do as well as he can, like myself, to help his team.”

West Ham are known to want a centre-back in the January transfer window, with David Moyes looking to strengthen his side.

Whether they will be able to land Evans remains to be seen, as the Mirror claim West Brom want £30 million for the centre-back, who is also attracting attention from the likes of Manchester City.

West Ham will be looking to beat West Brom tonight, as three points would do their survival bid the world of good.

Moyes’ men could move up to 14th tonight, and two points clear of the drop zone, if they are able to be victorious.
