The West Ham striker’s playing time has been a major concern for the Mexico national team.
Javier Hernandez of West Ham United celebrates
It seemed as though Javier Hernandez had finally won round his boss David Moyes with his recent form for the Hammers. After playing a bit-part role in the early stages of Moyes’ management he came to the fore in recent times and had started finding the net.
This was not only good news for West Ham fans, but also those of the Mexico national team
Hernandez is considered a key player for El Tri and it was suggested in January his lack of football was actually harming his chances of selection for the World Cup in Russia this summer – which preceded transfer rumours regarding a return to his homeland.

But the recent upturn in fortunes was great news for Mexico, which is why being dropped for the Liverpool game at the weekend could not have come at a worse time.
He was left on the bench as Moyes went defensive in a bid to overcome the in form Reds. But Jurgen Klopp’s men still tore into West Ham and Hernandez got just seven minutes of action.
It could not have come at a worse time either, as his national team boss was watching. According to Marca the Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio was in the UK this week and he will have been disappointed not to see his star striker in action.

Hernandez must find a way to secure more minutes at West Ham in the weeks to come to ensure he maintains a starting spot for Mexico this summer.
Hopefully he can get back in the starting XI for the weekend clash with Swansea City.
