Marco Silva was sacked by Watford on Sunday after a run of only one win in 11 Premier League matches.
Watford fans will be frantically googling Javi Gracia this evening after Sky Sports reported that the Spaniard was the favourite to replace the sacked Marco Silva.
The Hornets announced on Sunday that Silva had been axed after a run of only one win in 11 Premier League matches sucked them to within four points of the relegation zone.
Gracia has previously managed in La Liga with Almeria and Malaga and his most recent job was with Rubin Kazan, with whom he only finished ninth in the Russian Premier League.
However, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has given his seal of approval to the prospective appointment, describing Gracia as ‘strong’ and ‘tactically savvy’.
According to Sky Sports, the 47-year-old will be confirmed as the new manager at Vicarage Road within 24 hours, with his first match in charge at Southampton in the FA Cup third round next Saturday.
Sky Sports adds that Gracia is expected to have funds to work with in the remainder of the January transfer window, but must move some players out of Watford’s squad first.
