Javi Gracia, he drinks sangria has started to trend online after Leeds United announced the 52-year-old as their new manager.

A 16-day search to replace Jesse Marsch ended on Tuesday as those in the boardroom at Elland Road settled on the Spaniard, having initially tried to hire the likes of Andoni Iraola, Carlos Corberan and Arne Slot.

Gracia could hardly have a more important debut in charge of Leeds United as his side – sat 19th in the Premier League – take on Southampton, who languish one point below in 20th.

The Elland Road faithful will surely be keen to welcome Gracia in the best way possible as they aim to avoid slipping to the bottom of England’s top-flight, so let’s take a look at a potential chant they could bellow out for their new boss.

Well, the Watford fans adored Gracia, and created a chant just for him during his time at Vicarage Road.

You can see the lyrics to that specific song below – Leeds fans could use most of it at Elland Road, although some of the words will have to be amended.

Javi Gracia

He drinks sangria

He came from Russia

To Hertfordshire

He went from zero

To Watford’s hero

So please don’t take my Javi away

Of course, Leeds United fans will have to change the reference to Gracia working for Rubin Kazan before joining Watford.

To offer a similar suggestion in terms of syllables, Leeds United fans could go with the following in reference to Gracia’s last job coming in Qatar with Al-Sadd, and his homeland of Pamplona could replaced the hero aspect, as he is yet to achieve that status at Elland Road.

Javi Gracia

He drinks sangria

He came from Qatar

To Elland Road

Born in Pamplona

Could manage Barca

Please don’t take my Javi away

Of course, it is just a quick suggestion – we are by no means experts when it comes to writing chants, as you can tell – although there is something for Leeds United fans to work with as they prepare to welcome Gracia to Yorkshire.
