Talking head Jason Whitlock has gone in on Paige Bueckers, explaining why he thinks she cannot replace Caitlin Clark as the potential ‘face of the WNBA.’
Ever since she entered the WNBA, Caitlin Clark has been pushed as the potential face of the league. This has been controversial too, with many feeling like there are better players than her in the W.
Paige Bueckers’ entry into the league has added another angle to the discourse. And her play on the court has backed up the shouts so far, too.
Bueckers was selected to the All-Star Game for the second time in 2026 as a sophomore. But it was her actions off the court over the weekend that have now drawn criticism.

Jason Whitlock slams Paige Bueckers for having ‘no class’ compared to Caitlin Clark
Sports analyst and controversial talking head Jason Whitlock is known for his outspoken takes. He used a viral clip of the Dallas Wings guard to fire off his latest opinion.
“This isn’t me being a contrarian. It’s not unfair. I say that also believing All-Star Weekend proved beyond a shadow of doubt that Caitlin Clark is the only person qualified to be the face of the W,” Whitlock said.
“The hoop-n-hump league has no other candidate. Paige = No class.”
The video in question was of Bueckers at a club, partying. While there will be people who agree with Whitlock, many will also simply point to it as not being a factor in the conversation.
Paige Bueckers’ game is doing the talking for her
While people are free to question Bueckers’ actions off the court, her basketball talent is both immense and apparent. The Wings have an 18-9 record, in large part thanks to Paige’s quality.
The 24-year-old is averaging 20.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. She is also shooting almost 40 percent from three-point range, meaning she is already matching Clark’s levels.
Ultimately, the face of the league conversation comes down to winning. With the business end of the season now coming up, both Bueckers and Clark will be focused on just one thing: playoff success.
