Jason Holt has started in every match since Pedro Caixinha took charge of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers.

Jason Holt has told Glasgow Rangers’ official website that he is enjoying the new role that Pedro Caixinha has created for him at Ibrox.

Holt has been a mainstay in Rangers’ team since Caixinha took charge, and he has been handed a deep lying role in midfield.

The Portuguese boss has obviously been impressed by Holt’s defensive qualities, and has used the 24-year-old as a shield in front of his defence.

Holt has typically been played as a box-to-box midfielder throughout his career to date, but the former Sheffield United man insists he is enjoying his new position.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing it,” he said. “Thankfully, prior to Sunday we have had good results. Now, I’ll just look to kick on each week and try to improve as well and I can improve on a lot of stuff.

“I just need to keep doing that and keep working hard for the team. I’ll always work hard for the team, and that role allows me to get on the ball more.

“So I’ve really enjoyed it and hopefully I can continue doing well in that role.”

Rangers had made a bright start under Caixinha, but much of the momentum they had built up was halted last weekend, after a defeat to Celtic.

Rangers were well off the pace in the Scottish Cup semi-final, and were beaten 2-0 by their Glasgow rivals.

The Light Blues will have a chance for revenge on Brendan Rodgers’ men, when the meet again in the league at Ibrox.

Rangers are yet to beat Celtic in the five Old-Firm derbies which have taken place this season.
