Glasgow Rangers have endured another disappointing start to the season, with the Ibrox side well off the pace in the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers go into their clash with Dundee on Friday night fourth in the Scottish Premiership nine points off current leaders Celtic with only 13 games played. And they go into their next game off the back of a hugely disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Hamilton at Ibrox last weekend.
The game meant that Rangers’ long wait to win three games in a row continues. The Gers have not put together a run of three victories in a row since December last year. But Holt denied that the pressure was having a negative impact on the Light Blues squad.
“I think every player at the club wouldn’t be here unless you were able to handle the pressure. I don’t think you can pinpoint one thing [behind their recent form], there’s been a few things so far this season that we’ve discussed between the players and staff. And it’s down to us to put things right.”
While Holt has denied that Rangers’ squad has been unable to handle pressure, there have a handful of occasions in recent times when the squad has somewhat failed to turn up on the big occasion.
Of course, they have not won an Old Firm game since their return to the top flight and have drawn on just one occasion, losing comfortably a number of times.
And with the side failing to reach the Scottish League Cup final after losing to Motherwell at Hampden Park recently, perhaps Rangers’ squad do need to question whether they are able to put in the kind of performance the fans expect when the pressure is on.
