On-loan Sunderland defender Jason Denayer has told the Chronicle that Pep Guardiola has told him he thinks he is an interesting player.
The Dutch defender joined the Black Cats on loan in the summer transfer window as David Moyes sought to bolster his defensive options.
He departed parent club Manchester City after it became apparent he would not get many first team chances at the Etihad under new manager Pep Guardiola.

It seems he does have a future at the club, though, as Denayer claims the Spanish boss sees him as an interesting player.
“(Pep) Guardiola told me that he thinks I’m an interesting player but I could not count on a lot of playing time and that I would be better loaned out,” he told the Chronicle.

First and foremost Denayer must focus on establishing himself in the Black Cats first team before dreaming of starring for Manchester City.
So far he has only managed to feature in three of their seven games as David Moyes has gone with the likes of Lamine Kone, Papy Djilobodji and Paddy McNair ahead of him in the heart of his defence.
That has already cost him his place in the Belgium squad for this international break and he admits that omission was hard to take.
“Mr. Martinez (Belgium coach Roberto) has given me an explanation, yes,” he added Denayer.
“He told me that I have not played my position too many matches in my club, so he did not find it ideal to name me in the squad. In the beginning, I had difficulty with that decision.”
