Newcastle United won the Championship title yesterday, with Brighton & Hove Albion slipping up.
TalkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy has taken a swipe at Newcastle United on Twitter, after Rafael Benitez’s side secured the Championship title yesterday.
Newcastle took top spot in the second tier in dramatic circumstances, with a 89th minute Aston Villa equaliser denying Brighton & Hove Albion the title.
And Cundy couldn’t resist having a pop at Newcastle after the match on social media.
When Cundy was quizzed on why he couldn’t just congratulate Newcastle for their success, he suggested it was because they had fallen short of expectations this season.
Newcastle have faced a difficult fight to win the title, but in truth their promotion spot has rarely been threatened.
Newcastle and Brighton have been the two stand out teams in the second tier, and both secured promotion fairly comfortably in the end.
The Magies now return to the Premier League, with hopes of building on their recent success with Benitez at the helm.
