Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were beaten by “Progres Tin of Corn”, according to Jason Cundy who says Celtic’s achievement has suffered as result.
Jason Cundy has told talkSPORT that he sympathises with Celtic over their lack of stellar competition in Scottish football in the wake of Rangers’ defeat to Progess ‘Tin of corn’.
The Gers, who finished third in the Scottish Premiership last season, suffered an embarrassing exit from the first round of Europa League qualifiers this week after losing 2-0 away to Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn.

The Hoops did not lose a domestic match last term en route to winning the treble but Cundy believes that Rangers’ defeat to “Progress sums up the standard North of the border.
“Celtic go on about being the Invincibles, an unbeaten side,” he told talkSPORT. “It just goes to show where they are as a side and where Scottish football is.
“This reflects badly on Scottish football. I have a certain amount of sympathy with Celtic – it’s not their fault.
“But you can’t get away from it, this just shows you really that what they did last season carries no clout at all. It doesn’t. Progres ‘Tin of corn’ have just knocked out the third-best side in Scotland. Football has left Scotland behind.”
Celtic can only beat what is put in front of them and Brendan Rodgers will certainly be optimistic that he can replicate that treble success of last season.
Rangers, however, must regroup before the Premiership season starts next month. It could still be a good season for Pedro Caixinha’s side, whose European exit might actually benefit them long-term as they have one less competition to compete in.
Fans of the Ibrox club would’ve liked a Europa League group-stage campaign. It would have reminded them what European football is like on the blue half of Glasgow, but challenging Celtic is more important. Whether they can do that or not remains to be seen.
