Jason Cummings wanted to rejoin Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers it seems.
Jason Cummings has admitted on his Instagram story, via The Record [20:59], that he tried to re-sign for Rangers this summer.
The Scottish hitman spent the second half of last season on loan at Rangers from Nottingham Forest, netting six goals in nine starts across all competitions under Graeme Murty.
The Record reported in April that Cummings would have cost the Gers around £1 million if they wanted to make the move permanent.
Steven Gerrard replaced Murty as manager in May and the speculation about Cummings died down, before the 22-year-old joined Peterborough United on a season-long loan this week.
The former Hibernian star already admitted on Instagram that he was “gutted” not to be returning to Ibrox, and has now admitted on the same platform, via The Record [20:59], that he did his best to go back.
Cummings did okay in Glasgow, and scored a hat-trick in a Scottish Cup win over Falkirk, but you got the impression that Murty’s exit scuppered his chances of joining the Blues on a full-time basis.
Gerrard, for whatever reason, obviously doesn’t fancy the young marksman and it looks like the legendary midfielder has a different M.O with regards to strikers, having signed 6’3 powerhouse Umar Sadiq on a season-long loan from Roma last week.
