Sunderland are in the market for a new striker this month.

Sunderland are hunting for a striker this month, and their plans have taken a blow as Wigan Athletic striker Will Grigg seemingly won’t be arriving.
Not only have the Black Cats failed to come up with a suitable fee, but the Northern Irishman has now picked up an injury and is unlikely to be available.
That means Sunderland must look to other options. After all, Charlie Wyke hasn’t really got going since his summer arrival, and Josh Maja could yet move on.
Jack Ross will have a number of options in mind, but he should certainly consider rekindling an interest in Nottingham Forest-owned forward Jason Cummings.
The Scot was wanted by Ross over the summer according to The Northern Echo, but he ended up with Peterborough United instead.
With six goals in the first six games of the season, the 23-year-old was in blistering form, but has now fallen out of favour at the ABAX Stadium under Steve Evans.

Cummings isn’t being considered for first-team selection right now, and a return to Forest – where he isn’t wanted either – seems inevitable before the end of the month, with a move elsewhere expected.
Sunderland could finally be the place where Cummings makes an impact in England, with Ross no doubt familiar with the enigmatic forward from his time in Scotland.
Cummings wouldn’t break the bank and has already shown that he can be a real threat in League One if his head is screwed on, and having been getting the best out of Aiden McGeady too, Ross may be the ideal man to develop Cummings, meaning Sunderland should take the chance to finally sign the Scot this month.
